Samantha Humphreys -
Hello! And welcome to Calvary United Church's Youth Group page!
For anybody who might not know me yet I am Sam Humphreys I am the Youth and Young Adult Minister here, nice to meet you!
On this page you will be able to keep up to date with all that is going on with our Youth programming! You can also keep up to date by joining our Calvary United Church Youth Group facebook page or following our instagram @calvaryunitedpa
-Sunday Morning Youth Cafe (Monthly)
-Evening Youth Group (Two Fridays a month)
-Any special or online events.
We are able to reserve a booking at Paintball Paradise's haunted corn maze, the most asked about activity we have ever done!
This will be for both Junior and Senior youth. We will plan to stay at paintball paradise for 2 hours (yes this includes an hour of the REALLY scary stuff). From 7-9pm Saturday October 30th.
I am looking for a couple chaperones... I would love to embarrass myself getting terrified again but nobody wants a 7 month pregnant lady trying to run around in the dark... not a nice image.
We will also need rides for bubbles to and from Paintball Paradise. Arrival 7pm, Departure 9pm.
I need to know numbers ahead of time so please if you would like to join in this event you must let me know no later than October 25th (Monday before).
If you would like to tentatively register and come the 30th, decide that you are not comfortable attending due to COVID that is alright. But PLEASE let me know if you are interested so we can have your name on the list.
If you are able to, the cost of this event is $17 per participant. Parents who are volunteering as chaperones we will cover your fees. Please talk to me if the registration fee will not fit into your budget and we can make arrangements.
Payment can be by cash at the time of the event, or via etransfer to with the message "corn maze" email@example.com Please let me know if you are planning to etransfter so I know how much cash to expect!
At the event I will put everything on one bill and you will pay me (the church) your fee so we are not standing in line for eons!
There is a canteen at Paintball Paradise if you would like some fancy snack from there you can bring cash for that! I will provide a drink and a snack for everyone.
The facility mandates that social distancing of 6ft be maintained at all times even in out door areas. We will be expected to follow this guideline strictly.
It is strongly recommended that everyone wear a mask for this event even being outdoors. You may see others at the venue without masks on, I would still like for each of you to wear your mask unless actively eating or drinking. This includes out in the maze!!!
I will have masks and hand sanitizer for everyone should you need (and as needed).
I understand that these sorts of fun things are super exciting and you want to let loose and have a great time. However, I do expect a level of behaviour befitting of our group,
-Listening when leaders are speaking: This has been somewhat of a struggle for our group in the past. Weather it is me or a parent chaperone I expect each participant to listen to what they have to say. With eyes and ears.
-Punctuality: This is for all times at this event not just arrival. You will be given a level of freedom and trust for this activity and you will be expected to show up at meeting times, it will be dark and I cannot be tracking everyone down.
-Sticking Together: I would like to see our group leave nobody behind. You will not be expected to stay together as a large group, but I do expect everyone to have at least one buddy that they are accountable to. If your buddy does not wish to go into an area that you do (ex. the haunted building) you do not ditch your buddy, you are expected to come up with a plan together for what will happen. There will be parent chaperones around to check in with as well please do not try and leave them in the dust!
-Of course you are allowed to invite friends, please make sure both your and their adult know. Friends must also pre-register.
-The weather is starting to get chilly please dress for the temperature, the fire pits at the venue are not public this year so we will not have those to warm ourselves by! I recommend mits and toques!
- You are welcome to dress up in your costume! Just take into account the weather!
I think that is it in a nut shell.. if you can think of anything that I have missed please reach out and have a chat!
Please feel free to contact me anytime.
