Bible Study – every Thursday at 1pm in the library at Points West on Guy Drive, led by Sam Clayton.
Fancy Hat Day – On May 10th we invite everyone to wear their Fancy Hats to Church. This could be an Easter Bonnet, Fascinator, Bowler, Top, we will even accept Toque if that’s how you roll! We look forward to seeing everyone in their finery as we honour Christian Family Sunday.
We are Hiring! Music Ministry
As our dear Tricia makes plans for her retirement from teaching at the end of this school year and a move to be closer to family, we are looking for someone to join our Worship Team as Sunday Morning Pianist. If you love music and sharing your talent with others and would enjoy being a part of a progressive and inclusive worshiping community then this is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead congregational singing alongside our Music Director, Choir, and Ministry Staff
- Provide accompaniment for Choir Anthems during worship
- Be available for choir practices
- Provide Music Ministry a few minutes before and after weekly worship services

Sunday School Classes weekly – For ages 3 and up. Under 3, please bring a grown up with you.
Holy Crap Fundraiser – We will be running this wildly popular fundraiser again. We are waiting on Mother Nature to allow us to go collect the fertilizer - watch your email for presale and digging times.
Garage Sale – Youth Group Families Help!
We are looking for help covering the yard tools section on May 8 from 6pm to 8pm. Please let Sam know if you can help!
Youth Group - May 8
Youth Group will be at the Church. Join Sam at the Garage Sale to help and have fun.
Junior Youth – 5:30pm to 7pm. Senior Youth – 7pm to 9pm
Tapawingo Homecoming Weekend – May 30-31st
All youth are invited to Camp Tapawingo on Saturday, May 30th. We will sleep over at camp and come home early afternoon, May 31st. Saturday, we will help with maintenance jobs, getting camp ready for the summer, as well as enjoy some camp songs, snacks, games, and maybe even a swim if you are brave! Sunday Calvary will host Vespers at 11 am. There will also be an alumni time of sharing. Please let me know if you are interested in joining. Parents, siblings, alumni, and friends to camp are all welcome as well!

Spring Luncheon – Our lovely Spring lunch is coming soon. Mark your Calendars for Friday June 5th 11:30am. We will have a wonderful time of food and fellowship. Stay tuned for more information.

Garage Sale Volunteers – Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift to get settled in. If anyone would still like to help out during the sale and haven’t signed up yet, spots are available.
Garage Sale Furniture Drop Off – Furniture items may be brought to the church from Sunday, May 3 (after 1pm) until Wednesday, May 6. These are to be placed in the Upper Hall. If you have furniture to donate, but no way of getting it to the church, please contact Daryl at (306) 940-9179 to arrange a pick-up time.
Garage Sale Bakery Nook – As in past years, we will have a Bakery Nook, so if you’re a baker, we’ll have a spot for your goodies to be sold. Baking can be pies, loaves, muffins, squares, cookies. You can also donate individually wrapped puffed wheat squares, Rice Krispie squares or large cookies, or 2-3 smaller cookies in a zip lock bag. If your baking contains nuts, please label. Thank you!
Chili for Garage Sale Canteen – We are short volunteers for chili for the canteen. If you are able to contribute, please contact Kathy at 306-930-8064.
The Scott Woods Concert “Fiddle Country” Coming Soon!
Monday June 8th 7:00pm at Calvary United Church. Get ready for a toe-tapping, heartwarming experience with Scott Woods and his talented band! “Fiddle Country” is a brand new high-energy show that brings the best of Classic Country and Fiddle music to life! Featuring an unforgettable blend of Canadian Old Time Fiddling, Bluegrass, Western Swing, and Country Gospel, this live performance is packed with real music, real instruments (piano, drums, guitars and multiple fiddles), and loads of family-friendly fun. Add in some trick fiddling, amazing step dancing, a touch of Canadiana charm and plenty of humour, and you’ve got a show that you won’t forget! This band will keep you entertained for the whole two hours. Scott’s keen wit will keep you laughing, and his prowess on the fiddle will amaze you. Of course, Scott will do some of his trick fiddling as well! “Heart of the Youth Pow Wow” – Fri. May 29: in the spirit of community & reconciliation, please consider volunteering for the following:
Volunteers wanted for “P.A. Downtown Street Fair” – Sat June 20, 8:00am - 1:00pm. Duties: set up of tables/chairs; assist with signage; assist vendors; monitor garbage; fill toilet paper; visit; ENJOY!
All ages welcomed!! 2 shifts (choose just one or both!): 16 people required for the first shift; 10 required for the 2nd shift. CUC receives a generous donation for this volunteer opportunity!!

Grief Support Group: Understanding Bereavement Series One – This 6-week program, that is open to the community, will run Thursdays from 7:00-8:30pm at Calvary April 9 to May 14 (note one day change to May 4th). Facilitated by Rev. Nora, it will feature Dr. Bill Webster’s work “When Life Changes”. Together we will discover how understanding the grieving process can help us get through it. There is no fee for this program due to sponsorship from Arbor Memorial, however, space is limited to 15 participants. Contact the church office for mor information or to register 306-763-8695. For those interested, Series Two of When Life Happens will be held in the fall.

We are deeply grateful for the donations you all bring for our Emergency Food Hamper Program. This outreach runs Monday-Friday all year and accepts donations of nonperishable items, as well as meat, bread, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Monetary donations can be e-transferred to [email protected] with Care and Share in the memo line.

Gentle Yoga – Cancelled this week due to the Garage Sale. Tuesdays at 1:30pm in the Upper Hall. For all ages and abilities. Experience the soothing energy of Yoga. Maximize balance and flexibility. Improve your strength, mental clarity and general feeling of wellbeing. Participate at your skill level. Use a chair for support — relieve your fear of falling. Beginners welcome. Leadership offered by Ruth Griffiths.

“123, Play with Me” – Friday mornings in the church basement. Doors open at 9:30 with program running from 10am to 11:30am. Parents and pre-school aged kids are welcome to gather for games, singing, stories, and crafts.
